Use cases

Here are a few, but you can use your imagination 😀

  • Merge branched models. Manage production branches for bug fixes.
  • Deploy bug fixes and partial releases.
  • Reuse definitions between tabular models for alignment with common business definitions.
  • Reuse definitions from self-service models to IT-owned semantic models.

For a detailed list of features and use cases, see the ALM Toolkit and BISM Normalizer documentation.

History

The ALM Toolkit codebase started out as the BISM Normalizer Visual Studio extension. ALM Toolkit is decoupled from Visual Studio.

This video covers BISM Normalizer 3 use cases and demo. Most of this still applies to ALM Toolkit.

Internal code/object model

This video shows the internals and object model of BISM Normalizer/ALM Toolkit. Most of it is still relevant today.
